"One of the qualities which make this book attractive for study is the very appropriate sub-division of the subject-matter. Not a chapter is overloaded, and grammar is illustrated by examples and comparison with the English, rather than by an enumeration of rules, which would make the study dry and monotonous. There are no long dry lists of words, but the examples illustrating the grammar are chosen so that they constantly enrich the vocabulary of the reader. Rather than confine one subject to one chapter, the same subject is often treated or further discussed in successive chapters. Thus, confusion resulting from
accumulation of statements, is prevented, while at the saure time the student is reminded of what he has already learnt in previous chapters. In order to make him more familiar with the new words, each chapter is followed by a short exercise an translation in which these words are used in sentences. Differences between spoken and written language are pointed out whenever this proves necessary."
