After 1848, when Jewish inhabitants gained the right to live in permanent quarters in Pest, the area bounded by Kiraly, Kertesz and Dohany Streets besame the main Jewish neighbourhood.
Number of Jewish people grew rapidly in this section where Jews lived deliberately for about a hundred years.
Jews started to play an important rote in the development of Hungarian culture at the turn of the century.
