Neoplazme centralnog nervnog sistema, kao i neoplazme drugih lokalizacija u covecijem telu, proticu u prvoj fazi evolucije u vecini slucajeva bez upadljivih simptoma. Zbog ove odlike, njihovo svestrano poznavanje i rano otkrivanje od velikog su znacaja, jer pruzaju moguc-nost blagovremenog hirurskog lecenja. Neoplazme ove lokalizacije razlikuju se po jednoj zajednickoj osobini od neoplazmi drugih lokalizacija. One, osim u redim slucajevima implantacionih metastaza (meduloblastom, gliom), uglavnom ne metastaziraju, pogotovu van centralnog nervnog sistema. Ovakva njihova osobina namece jos u vecoj meri potrebu njihovog poznavanja, jer se kroz rano otkrivanje znatno poboljsavaju izgledi za uspesno hirursko lecenje. Zbog toga nam je i bio cilj da u ovoj studiji damo prilog upoznavanju neoplazmi ove lokalizacije.
Kao izvor podataka, autorima je posluMo 1.054 biopsije operisanih bolesnika Neurohirurske klinike Medicinskog fakulteta u Beogradu i Odeljenja za neurohirurgiju Klinike za hirurske bolesti Vojnomedicinske akademije JNA, u periodu od 1961. do 1971. god. U istom vremenskom periodu obdukovano je u Institutu za patologiju i sudsku medicinu Vojnomedicinske akademije 115 bolesnika_ umrlih zbog neoplazmi centralnog nervnog sistema.

Foreword of authors
The neoplasms of the central nervous system as well as the neoplasms of other localisations in the human body develop in the first stage of evolution in majority of cases without evident symptoms. Due to this characteristic, their comprehensive recognition and early detection have a great importance giving the possibility for timely application of surgical treatment. Neoplasms of this localisation dif - f er from neoplasms of other localisations. Except in rather rare unusual cases of implantation metastases (medulloblastoma, glioma), they mainly do not metastasize, and particularly outside the central nervous system. This characteristic imposes even in greater extent the necessity of their recognition, because through early detection the prospects for successful surgical treatment considerably improve. Therefore, our objectives in this study were to give a contribution to the knowledge and recognition of neoplasms of this localisation.
As source of data, the authors have used 1.054 biopsies taken from patients of the Neurosurgical Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade and from Neurosurgery Department of the Surgical Clinic of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade within thv period of 1961-1971.
