Henryk Kabat has two loves in his life — Dar Pomorzo and sea fishery to which he has rcmained faithful over the years.
He came into contact with sea fishery in 1950, when. as one of the crew of the lugger Korab 11. he fished for herring with drift neu, in the North Sea. Fascinated by the subject. he accompanied the fishermen to the grodnds of lteland, Greenland. and Africa. aiming to show the psychological and physical differente of these men who had been influenced so much by their everyday strug-gles with the sea.
His meeting with the Dar Pomorza was in 1948
during a voyage to Sweden: as from that time. ne accompanied her just as faithfully, remaining enchanted by the ship. In her he saw the disappearing beauty of the old Clippers — those most perfect ships of all time nad seas — and a ship which had offered a specific service to men of the sea: iz was to these that he dedicated his work.
