The exhibition: The Prints of Andy Warhol teils the story of a triple encounter, virtually in the surrealist sense of the word, its participants being from such different Backgrounds with such varied motivations.
The first encounter was between The Museum of Modern Art and the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art, when Waldo Rasmussen, the efficient and convincing Director of the International Program of The Museum of Modern Art sought the Foundation's help for this Andy Warhol project.
Thanks to this alliance, the Foundation is to be the first to show the exhibition which, from the very start, was programmed to travel to five Eastern European countries, Although it will begin in Paris, Prague is to be its next stop, a symbolic destination if there ever was one, making it easier to link together the three Foundation events of this summer 1990, under the title "Andy Warhol System: Pub, Pop, Rock".
